News for Freemasons: About

South Shropshire Masonic Fellowship

The purpose of the Fellowship meeting is to provide a venue where the widows of previous members can regularly meet with members of the lodge and maintain their connection with the Lodge and people they have known for years. When a Mason passes away, it is important that his widow’s social life does not stop, and she does not lose touch with the other wives in the Lodge. We hold the Fellowship meetings deliberately on a weekday lunch time so that it is convenient for retired Masons and widows and does not interfere with the weekend when families have chance to get together. We normally meet once a month at The Ragleth in Chruch Stretton where we have a meal together followed by a talk. We have had some fascinating speakers over the years but the days when we just sit, and chat are the most valuable. For the caring side of the Lodge to work we must have the wives and widows involved, they find it natural to talk to their friends about health issues and family problems, whilst men on the other hand talk about matters such as Masonry, football and the weather. If you hope your wife will keep her connection with the Lodge after you are gone, come and join in the Fellowship meetings while you can.

Any mason who is interested can contact the secretary via the contact section.
